Development of Vyborgsky Port and a wider nomenclature of handled cargoes caused great changes in the working collective. During 2011 about 100 new employees were taken which made it necessary to intensify work on professional training and adaptation of personnel.
It is the main principle of the Port that people without education and additional training have no chance to get a stable position and to make a career at a succsessful enterprise.
During the last year many vacancies appeared and as a result the collective became much younger. Nevertheless reqirements for employees did not become less snricter – quite on the contrary. Education level of employees is now higher. At present the number of employees having higher education diplomas increased by 17 % and there are one and a half times more workers with secondary special education.
The Educational Centre of the Port plays an important role now when new personnel is employed.
In this Centre mainly working professions are given. Slingers, drivers of autoloaders and crane attendants are trained there. Twelve persons have already finished their training and are doing their practice at the Port. Another five are being taught at the educational centre “Institute of Industry Security”. Much attention is paid to the training of crane attendants and conveyer operators. At present seventeen persons are learning and doing their practice with a new equipment.
This trend is very important because a large-scale modernization of equipment is simultaneously carried out in the Port. Modern Libkher cranes were bought and are in use now, railway lines are being repaired. It is planned to teach another ten persons in the nearest future. Half of them will be sent to special courses in Saint-Petersbourg. People themselves are active too. Sports teams of Vyborgsky Port won at various competitions and were awarded cups many times.
A considerable rotation of personnel in the Port required tutorage that helps new employees during the period of adaptation.
All these efforts result in higher productivity of labour and better quality of work that are part and parcel of plans of a large-scale modernization.
